We took a quick weekend spur-of-the-moment bicycle tour with our children in the fall of 2005. Our destination was the Snake River Canyon 60 miles away. It was a one-nighter, with a fast and furious descent into the canyon one day, and a long drawn-out torturous climb out the next.
