What I remember most about Iceland was the geothermal activity. Steam, boiling mud, and geysers were just about everywhere. I was also amazed at the spectacular scenery in this relatively undeveloped land. Great hiking and biking if you don't mind the rain, and it's a cold rain. There were surprisingly few facilities when I was there during the summer of 1988 so you have to be prepared to go two or three days without them.
