It was the summer of 1981. This was the first tour I ever took - the beginning of many adventures to come. I started in Albuquerque,
New Mexico and ended at my sister's house in Denver, Colorado. Even though I had the cheapest equipment you could imagine, everything went
very well. I'll never forget starting out that morning. The hardest part was just getting on the bike and starting to
ride. I think we grow so dependent on the known so when we are thrust into the unknown we feel vulnerable and apprehensive.
It would have been so easy to go back into my apartment, have a place to sleep, work on some projects, and cook dinner. Just
think how hard it must have been for Lewis and Clark!
