During Christmas vacation of 1989 my sister, Jane, and I rode our bicycles around the southern part of Baja, Mexico. The country, at that time, was remote and undeveloped. We recently took another bike trip there (2006) and found the gringos have invaded with condos lining the ocean front. No longer do you have to follow a dirt track; there is a paved highway. The southern part of the Baja (with the exception of the Cabo San Lucas area) still retains much of the remoteness.
